Why We Should Drink Gallons of Water

By Farah Mayu - August 07, 2020

Let’s be honest, is drinking water important to you? Or do you make it such a big deal? Though, I for the first time was such a great coward towards water. I would literally avoid if my mom asked me to drink gallons of water. It sucks. There’s no taste on it. I better be going to buy soft drinks or even hot sweet-tea and the better was milk. I never missed it tho. Besides, when I was 3 or 4 years old, I had drunk at least 5 bottles each day. Wow, that’s a crazy number.

Despite this, I have been started drinking gallons of water since two and half years ago and counting up until nowadays and I am gaining so many benefits from there. I at least drinking water 3 liters every day because I guarantee you will not ever regret it after making a list on it.

Sources

Some of the water required by the body is obtained through foods with high-water content, such as soups, tomatoes, oranges, but most come through drinking water and other beverages.

During everyday functioning, water is lost by the body, and this needs to be replaced. We notice that we lose water through activities such as sweating and urination, but water is lost even when breathing.

Drinking water, whether from the tap or a bottle, is the best source of fluid for the body. FYI, I regularly do it by a bottle.

Keeping hydrated is crucial for health and well-being, but many peeps do not consume enough fluids each day.

Water is of great importance for several organisms up to 90%. The human adult body consists of up to 60% water.

According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery:31%

Without water, your body would stop working properly. Water also makes up more than half of our body weight, and a person can not survive for more than a few days without drinking water. Why? Though our body has done lots of jobs and needs to be watered. For instance, our blood which indeed a lot of water carries oxygen to all the cells of our body. Without oxygen, those tiny cells would die and our body would stop working well.

When your body doesn't have enough water, that's called being dehydrated. Dehydration also can keep you from being as fast and as sharp as you'd like to be. One bad case of dehydration can make you sick. So keep that water bottle handy. not only water fight dehydration, though it's refreshing, and has NO CALORIES!

Your body consists of the amount of water in your system. The body holds on to water when you don't get enough or gets rid of it if you have too much. If your pee is very dark yellow, it's probably time to drink up. If your pee is very light yellow, you are having a good sign of well hydrated.

Besides, you can help your body by drinking water when you're thirsty and keep drinking extra water when doing exercise and even when it's warm out. your body will be able to do wonderful jobs and feel great.

Do we drink enough water?

A study carried out by the centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2013 analyzed data from the National Cancer Institute's 2007 Food Attitudes and Behaviors Survey

Out of a sample of 3.397 adults, the researchers found:
  • 7 percent of adults reported no daily consumption of drinking water
  • 36 percent of adults reported drinking 1-3 cups of drinking water a day
  • 35 percent of adults reported drinking 4-7 cups of drinking water a day
  • 22 percent of adults reported drinking 8 cups or more a day
People were more likely to drink less than 4 cups of drinking water daily if they consumed 1 cup or less of fruits or vegetables a day.

Here are some reasons our body needs water:
  • It delivers oxygen throughout the body
  • It boosts skin health and beauty: By dehydration, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and premature wrinkling.
  • It helps maintain blood pressure
  • It prevents kidney damage: The kidney regulates fluid in the body. Insufficient water can lead to kidney stones and other problems.
  • It boosts performance during exercise: Some scientists have proposed that consuming more water might enhance performance during strenuous activity.
  • WEIGHT LOSS: Water may also help with weight loss if it is consumed instead of sweetened juices and sodas. "Preloading" with water before meals can help prevent overeating by creating a sense of fullness, etc.
How do we intake it?

According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the average recommended daily intake of water from both food and drink is:
  • For men: It's around 3.7 liters or 125 ounces
  • For women: It's around 2.7 liters or 91 ounces
This would be around 15.5 cups for men and just over 11 cups for women. However, around 80 percent of this should come from drinks, including water, and the rest will be from food.

It means that:
  • Men should at least drink 12.5 cups of fluid
  • Women should at least drink 9 cups of fluid
You need to drink more water when:
  • When you are in hot climates
  • When you have more physically active: like exercising or heavy activities
  • Running a fever
  • Even when you having diarrhea or vomiting
How about me? How do I intake it?

Okay. I am going to tell you how. Regularly, I always put my 800ml bottle above my desk right beside my bed. So, when I wake up, take a little dazed away, sitting up, and my vision exactly points to that bottle. Without any quotes, I get up reaching my bottle and then drink it all out. That's the first move through the beginning just started. I have to finish my 2.8 liters left.

The second movement is, the moment my bottle is empty, I will fill it back and put the bottle above my desk again, cause it is used to be there. The right spot. Since I spend the whole leisure time sitting down in front of my desk while doing my works, reading, or even writing down my journal and my blog within other stories which I share it yet to others. And you know what? My bottle is within my sight. Never going anywhere. Easier to be caught when I totally am thirsty as hell. The minutes it goes, I will repeat my movement, back to fill my bottle up until I finish drinking my 3.6 liters water.
